ENGINE AND AIRFRAME STCs Aircraft Performance Modifications, Inc. Dual Strake Kits APM, Inc. is now offering STC approved Dual Strakes for the Cessna 400 series aircraft, see aircraft eligibility below. Strake kits are FAA approved and are shipped in a specially designed box including all parts, drawings, and documentation. Strakes must be installed by licensed aviation mechanics. The dual strakes are riveted onto the aircraft surface and reinforced inside the non-pressurized tail section of the aircraft. Each strake is also reinforced with stiffeners along the inside of the strake to prevent any oil can effect. Estimated installation time is based on an airplane without supplemental equipment installed in the tail section. APM, Inc. claims the following performance benefits: • Increase in calibrated airspeed by 4-7% (8-12 Knots) • 421C test aircraft measured a 10 knot airspeed increase (5%) • Improved aircraft performance during emergency single engine operation • More fuel on board at destination • Increased Stability • Faster climb rate • Decrease in flight time and stall speed • Transferable One-Year Parts and Labor Warranty The following models are eligible: 340, 340A 401, 401A, 401B, 402, 402A, 402B, 402C, 404, 411, 411A, 414, 414A, 421, 421A, 421B, 421C, 425, and 441. FAA-approved gross weight increase from 6,850 lbs. to 7,210 lbs., with ramp weight increased to 7,245 lbs. RAM Flight Manual Supplement must be carried aboard the airplane, available to the pilot. Vortex Generators are not required with this STC. Airspeed remark is required. Sold per aircraft SN: RAM Vortex Generators At slow speeds and high angles of attack, vortex generators (VGs) better manage the airflow across the wings and tail. Depending on landing gear and flap configuration, RAM VGs reduce stall speeds by 2 to 5 kcas and Vmc from 81 kcas down to 71 kcas. RAM VGs are not required for RAM's Gross Weight STC above.
